1991 Toyota 4Runner V6, 5spd
Sunroof, All Power Options
I bought my 1991 Toyota 4Runner in the Fall of 2005 for $800. It was meticulously maintained all of its life by one owner, and then sat for several years and became fairly rusty living mostly in Boston and Vermont. In the fall before I left for Colorado I put about $600 into it including an all new Monroe Suspension, new fuel lines, exhaust, and several other small things. I also did extensive grinding and filling to repair the rust spots which littered the body of the vehicle.
I drove it 15,000 miles in six months and it has been an extremely reliable vehicle on and off the road. So when I get the chance, I like to return the favor by giving it a few days of care to bring it back or repair problem areas.
My friend was able to do all of the body damage by himself, and on two occasions, we dealt with it as it came along. For instance the Tailgate was damaged when it was backed into a tree along the Crazy Horse Resevoir in Montana. We drove across much of the country with a plastic rear window.
You can see here the work that was put into it from start to finish, a new fender, cut and boxed the rear quaters behind the wheels, painted and installed a new tailgate and built a bumper out of 2x6" square tubing.
